Don't let the term "guided tour" fool you, with a maximum of 15 travelers, this is not your typical tour. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavík.

Spend your first day in Iceland's capital city either relaxing at your hotel or exploring the vibrant city. Possible day excursions include a Reykjavík city tour or an Icelandic horse riding adventure.

Day 2: Reykjavík - Þingvellir - Gullfoss - Flúðir

The tour begins with a pickup from your hotel and continues with a drive through the Nesjavellir geothermal area to Lake Þingvallavatn, Iceland's largest lake. Here you explore the historic Þingvellir National Park. The day continues with a visit to the magnificent waterfall Gullfoss, and the hot springs at the Geysir area before heading to the village of Flúðir for the evening.

Day 3: Þórsmörk

Today will be a day filled with beautiful and spectacular sights. Þórsmörk nature reserve offers a unique array of glaciers, rocks and greenery. Visit the impressive waterfall Seljalandsfoss and walk up to the edge of the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. This is truly one of Iceland's most impressive areas.

Day 4: Flúðir - Sprengisandur - Lake Mývatn

Travel across the wilderness of Sprengisandur, a wild, desolate land of breathtaking emptiness, pass the largest continuous lava field in Iceland, Ódáðahraun, before descending into the green beauty of the sheltered Bárðardalur valley.

Day 5: Dettifoss - Ásbyrgi - Húsavík

Continue on to the beauty of Lake Mývatn and Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall, as it thunders down into the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. Travel on to Ásbyrgi, a horseshoe-shaped canyon area before stopping in the village of Húsavík for a memorable whale watching tour.

Day 6: Lake Mývatn

Day 6 finds you exploring the natural wonders of the Lake Mývatn area, surrounded by lava fields, volcanoes and mountains. Take advantage of one of the optional tours offered or follow one of the many trails in the area for an adventure on your own.Optional Excursions: Full day excursion into the desert highlands of Dyngjufjöll Mountains to the Askja caldera.

Day 7: Vopnafjörður - Egilsstaðir

Begin your day heading through the interior highlands to Vopnafjörður and explore this beautiful oasis on the boarder to the Arctic Circle. You can enjoy a swim in the beautiful swimming pool on the banks of River Selá or visit the Burstafell farm before continuing over the breathtaking Hellisheiði mountain pass.

Day 8: East Fjords

From Norðfjörður, continue along the rugged and varied coastline of the East Fjords. Towering mountains, bare rock faces and ridges formed by the forces of weather and wind, plunge vertically into the sea to form Iceland's magnificent East Fjords.

Day 9: Djúpivogur - Skaftafell National Park - Kirkjubæjarklaustur

The first stop today is at Almannaskarð pass which offers a striking view of the Vatnajökull glacier and the coastal area. Drive onward to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon before continuing to Skaftafell National Park for a leisurely hike.

Day 10: Laki volcanic craters

Today experience a full day tour from Kirkjubæjarklaustur to the area of the Laki volcanic craters, famous for the eruption in 1783, when the huge eruption formed the spectacular Eldhraun lava field.

Day 11: Kirkjubæjarklaustur - Landmannalaugar - Reykjavík

Drive along the Fjallabaksleið interior road to Landmannalaugar, a magnificent area surrounded by colorful rhyolite mountains where bathing in a natural hot spring is an option. Return to Reykjavík in the afternoon.

Day 12: Depart Reykjavík

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before spending your last day in the capital city. Possible excursions include a relaxing soak in the mineral rich waters of the Blue Lagoon. A return transfer is included, but please remember to schedule your pick up time with the front desk.
