ItineraryDay 1: Arrive at Keflavík airport.Arrive at Keflavík airport. Pick up travel documents and transfer by Flybus (airport shuttle) to your hotel in Iceland's capital, Reykjavik. Day 2: Morning flight to EgilsstaðirMorning flight to Egilsstaðir, the capital of East Iceland. Spend the day in the Egilsstaðir area, with the option of exploring Iceland's only forested area, Hallormsstaður and Lake Lögurinn. It is also possible to visit Borgarfjörður eystri, one of the most beautiful and isolated fjords of the country. Day 3: The Gateway to the South CoastToday you drive south through the spectacular East Fjords to the town of Höfn in Hornafjörður, the gateway to the south coast. On the way take an optional boat tour to Papey island. Once a hermatage for Irish monks before the Norse settled Iceland, Papey is now the location where thousands of puffins nest in summer.You may also opt to visit the famous stone collection of Petra at Stöðvarfjörður. Day 4: Skaftafell National ParkDrive from Höfn to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon and on to Skaftafell National Park, a natural wonderland in the shadow of the Vatnajökull glacier and surrounded by black desert sands. Skaftafell is an area where lush green meets a frozen glacier. A hike in the park can be arranged. Continue onwards to the picturesque village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Optional Excursions: Jeep tour to Vatnajökull glacier, Boat tour on Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, glacier hike in Skaftafell area. Day 5: VíkToday drive across the vast lava field of Eldhraun to Vík, known for its magnificent black basalt beaches and cliffs teeming with bird life. Go past Dyrhólaey, a rocky headland, to Skógafoss, one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country with Mýdalsjökull glacier in the backdrop.
Day 6: Beautiful Natural WondersYour last day brings some of the most beautiful natural wonders of this awesome country. Visit Gullfoss waterfall, the famous Geysir geothermal area and Þingvellir National Park, site of the ancient Icelandic parliament. The park itself is situated in a stunning volcanic landscape of mountains and lava flows, on the border of Iceland's largest lake. Continue to Reykjavík in the afternoon. Day 7: DepartureDepart today via fly bus. Transfer to the airport is included but be sure to schedule your pick-up with the front desk.
