Itinerary

Day 1: Ålesund

Arrive in Ålesund and pick up your car at the airport. Make your way down town to your beautiful hotel and spend the afternoon and evening adjusting to your surroundings. Visit the Medieval Museum, the Fisheries Museums and the Atlantic Sea Park, or just take a walk through the town streets lined with Art Nouveau buildings. The architects that designed the houses were young Norwegians who were influenced by both national romantic ideas as well as the popular architectural style of the time, Art Nouveau. The buildings are decorated with towers, turrets and imaginative and colorful ornaments. When you go on your walk, pay attention to the buildings in order to see the small details that make these houses so beautiful.

Day 2: Ålesund - Geiranger

Begin your day with an energizing breakfast buffet at your hotel before you drive to Geiranger. Geiranger is the crowning glory of Fjord Norway. View the majestic, snow-covered mountain peaks, beautiful and wild waterfalls, lush, green vegetation and the deep blue waters of the fjord. Yes, it really is like something taken from a fairy tale. Take a fjord sightseeing trip and see it all! Another option is to follow the roads that twist and turn steeply through one hair-pin bend after another up to Dalsnibba, Flydalsjuvet and Ørnesvingen. From here you will have a fantastic view of one of the most beautiful panoramas anywhere in the world. A truly awe-inspiring sight! Enjoy dinner and overnight at Geiranger Union Hotel. The Norwegian Fjord Museum is right next door to your hotel and is worth a visit if you have time.

Day 3: Geiranger - Loen

Start your day with another delicious breakfast buffet at your hotel before departure. Take the ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt. After arrival in Hellesylt, drive yourself towards Stryn and Loen. Loen offers some of the most magnificent landscapes in Europe. Beautiful fjords, glittering turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls, wild glaciers and steep mountains abound. Visit the hotel's spa and maybe enjoy a relaxing treatment! Arrive in Loen, check in and spend the overnight and breakfast buffet at the historic Alexandra Hotel.

Day 4: Loen - Balestrand

After your breakfast at Hotel Alexandra, drive towards Skei and continue on to Balestrand. A traditional tourist resort located on the picturesque Sognefjord, Balestrand is noted for its magnificent scenery and pure, clean air. The journey to Balestrand embraces some of the best scenery Norway has to offer. In the village you can relax amid quiet, peaceful surroundings, stroll beside the fjord or hike in the mountains. And, of course, there are plentiful opportunities for bathing and water sports. Plus, for visitors in search of something new, thrilling tours of exploration on the Jostedal glacier are possible. Enjoy dinner at the famous Kvikne's Hotel this evening before you spend the overnight at this fashionable hotel in Balestrand.

Day 5: Balestrand - Lofthus

After breakfast, drive from Balestrand to Dragsvik and take the ferry to Hella. Continue on to Mannheller where you board the ferry from Mannheller to Fodnes. Upon arrival in Fodnes, drive through the Aurland's tunnel towards Flåm and Voss. At Flåm you can park the car and take a ride on the famous Flåm Railway (not included in the trip price) before you continue on to Voss and Lofthus. Take the 10 minute ferry ride from Bruravik to Brimnes and continue on to Lofthus. Spend the night at Ullensvang Fjord Hotell. Nature is the biggest attraction in Hardanger including the most popular waterfalls: Vøringfossen, Låtefossen and Steinsdalsfossen. Enjoy some of the country's most beautiful sights including Norway's biggest national park, Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau, the glaciers Hardangerjøkulen and Folgefonna and the Hardangerfjord, the Queen of fjords. In the middle of this majestic nature you will find the Troll Train in Måbø valley, Kjeåsen mountain farm, the Goldfish Lake in Øystese, the funicular in Skjeggedal and the Monk steps in Lofthus. Hardanger is truly a nature lover's paradise so enjoy!

Day 6: Lofthus - Solstrand

After your breakfast buffet at Ullensvang, drive to Kinsarvik and take the ferry to Kvanndal. (Please note: the ferry from Kinsarvik to Kvanndal does not run on Saturdays & Sundays) Drive towards Bergen and Os to the Solstrand Hotel were you will spend the night in lush surroundings. The hotel offers a wide range of spa treatments so ask upon arrival if you are interested. Situated right by the fjord with a large, peaceful garden, take time to sit and enjoy the beautiful view over fjords and mountains. The surroundings around Solstrand are well known for several hiking and cycling possibilities of different length and in various terrains. Maps and details are available at the hotel.

Day 7: Solstrand - Bergen
