Itinerary
Day 1: Tue - Arrival to St. Petersburg
Upon arrival in St. Petersburg, meet your local guide and transfer to your hotel in the heart of the city. The evening is yours to explore the city on your own or relax as you adjust to your surroundings.
Day 2: Wed - St. Petersburg
After a buffet breakfast enjoy a city tour including a visit to Peter and Paul Fortress, The Bronze Horseman, Nevsky Prospekt, and the Palace Square. The afternoon includes a tour to the Hermitage, one of the most amazing art collections in the world. Founded in 1764, the Hermitage comprises 8 departments located in 6 palaces and includes 15,000 paintings, 12,000 sculptures, 600,000 drawings, 600,000 monuments of archaeology and 1 million coins. Spend the evening touring St. Petersburg on your own or ask Runic Travels about current ballet or opera performances.
Day 3: Thu - St. Petersburg
Meet your guide after breakfast for a tour to Pushkin, one of the most magnificent and richest residences in Europe. Catherine's Palace was built between 1752-1756. The grounds extend to Catherine's Park, the Great Pond and the intriguing Pyramid where she buried her favorite dogs. Upon return to St. Petersburg, enjoy the rest of the night on your own.
Day 4: Fri - St. Petersburg - Moscow
In the morning there will be a transfer from your hotel to the airport for the flight to Moscow. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy a city tour of Moscow including Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum and the Kremlin. The evening includes a visit to the Moscow Circus.
Day 5: Sat - Moscow
Today is a full tour of the Kremlin including the Armory Chamber. The Armory building, located in the Northwestern section of the Kremlin, was built in 1851 as a factory for making weapons and armor. Today the Armory houses a museum in which enormous collections of Soviet national treasures, including the famous Faberge eggs, are on display. If the heart of Russia is the Kremlin, then the soul is the Cathedral Square, or so called "City of God." Six buildings, including three enormous cathedrals, edge the square. Most are works of Italian architects during the late 15th and early 16th centuries.
Day 6: Sunday - Depart Moscow
Today is the end of the tour. Enjoy your last buffet breakfast in Moscow and transfer to the airport for your flight home. Ask Runic Travels about extending your tour in Russia or another wonderful Scandinavian Country!
